Derrick Walker

Mr. Walker
Mr. Derrick Walker is the Director of Bands at Lutcher High School where he teaches the Concert Band, Marching Band and Pep Band.  He leads the Middle School Band at Paulina Elementary and Lutcher Elementary.  In addition to Mr. Walker's duties at Lutcher High, he serves as Assistant Band Director of the Louisiana Leadership Institute Allstar Band.
 
Before he came to Lutcher High, Mr. Walker was the Director of Bands at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, LA and Jackson High School in Jackson, Louisiana where his group received several local, state and national awards.  He earned his BA in Music from Southern University in Baton Rouge and graduated from Meridian High School in Mississippi.  
He is a member of MENC, LMEA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.  
 
Fun fact about Mr. Walker is that he marched with the Southern University "Human Juke Box" in President Clinton's 1996 inaugural parade.
